Ari Barook, athletic therapist and registered massage therapist in Toronto

Ari Barook

I trained for the sideline and the treatment room.

Athletic Therapy taught me to assess movement and get people back to their sport. Massage Therapy gave me the tools to work through the tissue that keeps getting in their way. Most of my clients sit somewhere in the middle: they are not professional athletes, but they have something they refuse to give up.

Questions people ask first.

  • 01

What is the difference between an athletic therapist and a massage therapist?

An athletic therapist assesses how you move and rehabilitates injuries back to sport. A registered massage therapist treats the soft tissue itself. I am certified in both, so one appointment can draw on either.

  • 02

    Do you offer relaxation massage?

No. Every session here is treatment aimed at pain relief and better movement. While some people find these sessions relaxing, that is not the primary goal.

  • 03

What happens at my first appointment?

A health history, then a short assessment, then hands-on treatment in the same visit. You leave knowing what was found, what was done, and what to do before the next session.

  • 04

How much does massage therapy cost in Toronto?

Sessions run $90 for 30 minutes, $110 for 45, $135 for 60 and $155 for 75, HST included. Athletic Therapy and Massage Therapy are the same rate. Cupping is included at no extra charge.
